We would like to sincerely thank, the Gal Power representative, Reko, for his assistance on Saturday, September 22, 2018 following the severe storms and tornado damage in Ottawa causing prolonged hydro outages across the city. His attention to detail, and efforts to go above and beyond to assist our clients at 354 Gladstone Ave, OCSCC 903, was greatly appreciated.

Combined heat and power (CHP) is an efficient and clean way of generating electric power and thermal energy from a single fuel source. The engine drives the generator, producing electricity, and the residual heat created during this process is recaptured and turned into useful heat.

Two types of "waste heat" are produced by generating electricity. The first type is the heat that is recovered from the engine jacket water that is cooling the engine. Secondly, heat from the exhaust gas is transferred via the heat exchanger. This captured “waste heat” can now be used for heating, cooling or generating steam.

Power Generation

  • Combined Heat & Power Systems reach up to 90% overall efficiency.
  • Heat is turned into valuable energy instead of being released into the atmosphere.

Based on the total energy generated, cogeneration plants typically cut NOx and CO2 emissions by almost 50 percent compared to thermal power plant/boiler systems, while complying with the strictest emissions regulations.

The Canadian Government recognizes that cogeneration is the most efficient and least-polluting way to extract as much of a fuel’s energy as possible.  Regulations for these systems are generally favorable and supported by generous incentive programs.

Cogeneration makes sense for processes where the electricity and most of the heat energy produced by the cogeneration module can be used efficiently. To maximize profitability and to reduce fuel and electric power costs, the performance of the cogeneration module and the availability and quality of maintenance and repair services should all be considered.

2G CHP systems are 100% modular and can be configured in accordance with individual project needs.

  • Cogeneration (Electricity & Hot Water)
  • Tri-Generation (Electricity, Hot Water and Steam)
  • Quad-Generation (Electricity, Hot Water, Steam and Chilling / Cooling)
  • Or any Combination of the above Applications

2G power plants have demonstrated their strength in many applications such as residential buildings, office and administration buildings, nurseries, schools, hotels, senior citizen centers, hospitals, farms and a wide variety of industrial and commercial businesses. Virtually every business is suitable for the use of cogeneration as these systems also use various types of gases.

2G CHP systems are built to perform. The 2G portfolio includes CHP systems with an electrical output range of 50kW to 4,000 kW.

GAL Power has trained specialists who will review your unique power requirements and will work to design a customized CHP application for your needs while remaining on budget.  Leave the project management, installation and commissioning of your CHP system to us!
